The Law of Attraction can seem confusing at first, especially the bit that says that we have attracted everything that’s currently in our life. That can’t be right, can it? But actually it is, so we need to learn how to make the law of attraction work for us. Here are some ways that we can do that.
Law of Attraction Tips
This is probably the biggest “secret” in the whole of the law of attraction. It’s certainly worth spending some time on this part.
You need to be crystal clear about what you want. The universe works very literally and is almost child-like in the way it understands things. This means that it has difficulty coping with negatives.
So it will translate the phrase “I don’t want to be fat” as “I want to be fat”. Because it ignores the negative word. Ouch!
Write out what you want to get. Spell it out in detail so that anyone could draw a picture of what you’ve written and come up with the same aim as you. Make the colors vivid, make the sounds loud, smell the smells, etc.
The clearer you can be, the better.
Put some effort in!
Movies like “The Secret” make out that you can make the law of attraction work for you without putting any effort in yourself.
That’s just not true.
The good news is that the effort you put in is nowhere near what you get back.
It’s a bit like tithing some of your income – the rule of thumb is that you get back what you give away ten fold. Which sounds odd to start with but if you start practicing it – with no expectation of return – you’ll be absolutely amazed at how much you get back.
The same goes for anything you’ve set your heart on:
Once you’ve made your aims crystal clear, you’ll find yourself noticing things that will help you get closer to your goal. Take them! These are signs of the law of attraction working with you to help you reach your goal.
Be grateful
The universe is quite simple about this: be grateful for everything you get. Say “thank you” to the universe – out loud or in your head, whichever you’re more comfortable with. But whatever you do, be grateful.
A lot of people find that the easiest way to keep being grateful is to keep a diary. Jot down all the things that have happened to you during the day that you are grateful for.
At first, this may be a bit of a struggle but like everything else we focus on it becomes a lot easier as you make it part of your routine.
If there are days when you’re feeling a bit low or where you think the universe is out to get you rather than out to help you, skim through all the things you’ve been grateful for over the last few days and notice your mood lift.
Keep working at it
Our society has trained us to want everything now, this instant. 24 hour shopping, fast food everywhere, television on demand and lots of other things mount up to tell us that anything we want is available now.
The universe isn’t normally that fast. It takes a bit longer to deliver the things that you want to attract using the law of attraction.
Often it’s pretty fast at delivering – turnarounds of a month or less are regularly reported as a result of using the law of attraction. But you do need to give it a bit of time to come up with the things you want to attract into your life.
Banish negatives from your life
As mentioned earlier, the universe has a hard time dealing with negatives. And whilst your mind also struggles, it does a better job.
It’s very easy to get dragged down by all the negative influences we have in our lives.
Cut out the easy stuff – newspapers, internet news, television news. They’re all negative drains on you and they are so not necessary. If something important happens, you’ll find out soon enough.
Once your friends and colleagues come round to the idea that you’re clueless about major news events they’ll tell you the ones that they think you need to know.
If cutting out negative sources in your life isn’t enough then positively go after positive and happy influences. Positive news is almost as rare as hens teeth so go for comedy shows instead. Give yourself a daily dose of comedy and see how it turns round your attitude to life for the better.
Go with the flow
If whatever you’re trying to attract with the law of attraction seems to be getting further away rather than closer that could mean a few things:
It could mean that whatever you think you want isn’t actually for you. At least at this moment in your life.
Or it could mean that you need to tack and turn on your journey towards your goal. This is quite common and nothing to worry about.
Most journeys don’t go from A to B in a straight line and attracting things into your life with the law of attraction is no exception.
The turnings and distractions are often a necessary part of your journey, even if they’re only clear in hindsight, if at all.
Put your faith in the law of attraction to deliver your wildest dreams into your life and prepare to be amazed how close it comes.
And don’t be surprised when the law of attraction goes into superdrive and actually delivers more than you originally requested.
You can cover for this last part when you’re writing out your requests. Use phrases like “at least” to signify that you’re open to the law of attraction beating your expectations.
The universe is vast which means that the capability of the law of attraction to overdeliver is equally vast. Give it room to overdeliver and prepare for the best to happen.

Using the law of attraction to manifest what you want
In essence, the law of attraction says that what you think about most is what you are most likely to manifest in your life.
The problem is that we’re not always particularly clear on what we want which, in turn, means that the universe doesn’t necessarily deliver what we thought we’d asked it to,
One issue that people have with the law of attraction is that the universe doesn’t work well with negatives.
In fact, it ignores them.
Which means it would interpret the sentence above as it working well with negatives – it literally crosses out any negative words and carries on from there.
So you have to be really careful what you ask the law of attraction to give you.
Check and double check that it’s unambiguous and that there are no possible extra alternatives that could happen because of the way you’re phrasing your requests. It’s handling so much information that – much like your subconscious mind – it doesn’t spend any time interpreting or judging what you’ve asked for, it just carries on and helps you manifest what you’re focusing on most.
For instance, if you’re always focusing on your bank balance being low then that’s what you’ll attract. Even though you thought that because you’ve asked for your bank account to stop being low that meant that it should be bigger.
Instead, focus on precisely what you want to occur.
The chances are that your thoughts will drift back to what you don’t want. Partly because that’s what most of us are used to doing – habit forms a large part of our lives.
That’s normal and it happens. Often at first the negative thoughts arrive thick and fast. It takes a while to catch yourself (and the thoughts) and swap them round from being negative to focusing more on what you want the law of attraction to bring into your life.
So don’t beat yourself up when a negative thought pops into your mind. Instead, pop the bubble that the thought is in and watch it vanish. If that sounds weird, think of your thoughts as being contained in a bubble in the same way as they are in cartoon strips. Then, when you burst the bubble (like you can burst a balloon) the words fall to the ground and just end up as a bundle of random letters.
Try imagining that!
Then imagine the letters dissolving harmlessly into the ground beneath your feet.
Get a sense of that happening – the more vivid you can make the idea of your negative thoughts self-destructing, the better.
Then imagine immediately replacing the negative thoughts (the ones that you actually don’t want to attract) with more positive ones.
Taking the bank balance example, instead of always asking yourself why your bank balance is lower than you’d like, turn that round to imagining money flowing into your bank and filling it to overflowing. A bit like the buckets of water being brought in the Sorcerer’s Apprentice except instead of water it’s money. All sorts of money – coins and notes and Paypal receipts and anything else that transforms itself into cash in the bank.
Turn your “why is my bank balance so low” thoughts into “I’m allowing my bank to get flooded with more money than I’d ever imagined before” thoughts.
That way the law of attraction will know exactly what you want to manifest.
The same goes for anything else you want to attract into your life.
If it’s relationships, make sure that your focus is on attracting a good relationship. Take the time to decide what that means for you and then turn your thoughts around every time you catch yourself thinking thoughts that don’t precisely convey what you’re aiming to attract.
This takes a bit of time and practice. But, like most things, the more you practice the better you’ll get at it.
Which means you’ll be thinking negative thoughts less often and positive thoughts more often. And that will help the law of attraction to work in your favour and manifest what you truly want in your life.
Using a daily routine for the law of attraction
Habits are the things we’ve grown used to doing on a regular basis.
Once you’ve got into a habit, it feels unnatural if you don’t do it. For instance, most of use brush our teeth regularly every day and our teeth feel odd or different if we forget or have been in a place where it’s less easy to do that.
It’s the same with any habit.
Which means that getting into a daily routine for the law of attraction is a good habit to develop.
Thoughts vary on how long it takes to develop a habit or routine. Some self help books suggest a couple of weeks, others a month (often 30 days, sometimes 4 weeks) and some research suggests maybe even double that time.
In practice, the length of time to develop a habit varies from person to person and from routine to routine.
But a good initial aim would be roughly a month – that’s a short enough time that if you really don’t get on with the idea, you can tell yourself it’s only for a month’s trial and it’s a long enough time to at least begin to establish it as a habit.
What should you include in a daily law of attraction routine?
Well… it depends.
There’s no single “correct” routine that works whereas all others don’t. It’s more a case of whatever routine you home in on that’s right for you will be correct.
For me, I like to specifically practice gratitude every evening before I go to sleep. Some people advise writing the things you’re grateful for in a gratitude journal so that it reinforces the act of being grateful. Personally, I just think of at least three things I’m grateful for that day and thank the universe for them. It’s maybe not as powerful as writing them down but it’s more powerful than not doing them. So that’s part of my daily law of attraction routine.
A lot of people like to have a routine that they do first thing in the morning.
Mainly because it means that it happens – before life gets in the way.
That could include some law of attraction affirmations – generic ones or ones that are specific to your current goals and the things you’d like to attract into your life.
Affirmations are a good way to reinforce ideas that are already swirling around your subconscious mind. They give a bit more of an anchor to the thoughts and the repetition involved helps to tell your subconscious mind that you’re fixating on that particular thing.
Visualisation is another good thing to include in your daily law of attraction routine.
If you’ve created a vision board, focus on each of the items in turn and let yourself go to a place where that item is now part of your life. Imagine how you’ll feel when that occurs – the things you’ll see around you, your feelings of success and achievement at having got the that place, the smells you’ll encounter (freshly printed bank notes, that new car scent, the ocean, that kind of thing) and the sounds you’ll hear (the clatter of the cash machine dispensing all those notes, the roar of the engine, the gentle breathing of your significant other, the crashing of the waves on the beach, etc.) and bring the visualisation of each item to life as much as you can.
It’s generally accepted that our minds can’t tell the difference between a real event and one that we’ve vividly imagined. That makes sense because a “real” event is only our minds’ interpretation of the various signals it’s receiving. That’s how two different people can be in the same place at the same time but come up with partially or even totally different versions of the occasion.
If you haven’t got a vision board, watching a law of attraction video that you or someone else has created can be another option. Choose one that has a time span that fits in with your daily routine – it doesn’t matter how good that 60 minute video is if you can’t make the time to watch it every day. It’s far better to choose one that’s shorter but gets watched on a regular basis and helps reinforce your law of attraction mentality.
Develop your own daily law of attraction routine and tweak it as time goes on. We’re not static, so a routine that was perfect for you a month or a year or a decade ago probably isn’t ideal now. Sure, it might be, but the chances are that you could adjust it so that it’s even better for you and helps you attract even more of what you want into your life.
Use the power of gratitude to reinforce the law of attraction
It’s so easy to take things for granted but being grateful is a big part of the law of attraction. It helps generate a more positive state of mind in ourselves and the people we thank in the course of our day to day lives.
Think about all the things we take for granted that would have seemed like science fiction to our grandparents or great grandparents:
- Colour television – hundreds of programs and channels broadcast directly into our homes. Not to mention the massive increase in the size of the screen we’re watching or the quality of the sound we’re listening to or the ability to watch events unfold from anywhere in the world as they happen.
- Radio stations – broadcast “live” or across the internet. Being grateful for the phenomally wide range of music available to us – everything from classical to metalcore and all places in between.
- The internet – with the access it gives us to millions of ideas, people and information at the click of a mouse. The diversity that is the internet is easy to take for granted when it seems that every call centre you ring (even your broadband provider) is urging you to go online to fix your problems fast. And it’s also worth being grateful for making six degrees of separation a reality and probably an overestimate of the number of steps to reach anyone else in the world. Be grateful every time you use the internet and – if you’re old enough – think back to the days of dial up modems or waiting for stuff to come through the post.
- Indoor toilets – my mother still remembers when toilets were inside outdoor sheds and newspapers were used instead of toilet paper. You could be grateful for that every time you use a modern indoor convenience, even if you’re unfortunate enough to suffer from a shy bladder – it’s still better than something that was basically a box over a pit!
- Mobile phones – there’s no way that Alexander Graham Bell could have imagined how his newly invented device could be morphed into a small contraption barely the size of a packet of cigarettes (or how they could have changed from being “cool” to being something to avoid)
- Fresh food – we’ve got year round access to food that would probably never have been available to royalty a couple hundred years ago. It’s plentiful, cheap and usually good quality. Even if your waistline is saying otherwise, fresh food is definitely something to be grateful for.
- Electricity – we no longer have to reply on gas lights or candles or huddling around a fire. Flick a switch and we’ve got electricity on demand. Be grateful regularly for the miracle that is electricity.
- Fresh water – turn on your tap (or faucet) and you’ve got an unlimited supply of fresh water. No need to go to the well or take a container to a lake or stream and wait for it to settle. And if you don’t want tap water, there’s spring water from all corners of the globe waiting in a bottle ready for you to drink it. Sure, there are still some places in the world where fresh water is scarce but for most people reading this, it’s something we take for granted.
- Our health – we’re living longer. Diseases have shifted – we’re experiencing more “modern” diseases that more often hit us mentally rather than physically – but they’re much more under control and most of us can expect to live long, healthy lives for longer than our ancestors lived in total. Remember to be grateful for your health as well as being grateful for easy access to information to keep you healthy and the medicines and treatments that are available when needed.
- Cheap travel – flights have moved on a lot since the Wright Brothers first experimented with planes. Flight safety has improved dramatically in recent years and prices have dropped as flying becomes more of a commodity. Cars have become more reliable and have even started to develop a mind of their own like the Tesla that drove to the hospital after its owner suffered a heart attack. Even bikes have moved on with a wider range, more sophisticated construction and general improvements.
It’s easy to take all these for granted but we should take the time out to thank the people involved in their creation and who’ve brought them to us.
And that’s just a really short list of things that we can – and should – be grateful for that even our recent ancestors couldn’t have dreamed of.
Being grateful is something that it’s worth incorporating into your everyday life.
There are just so many things we can be grateful for – even though lots of people seem to focus on the negatives rather than the positives.
Take the time to say please and thank you whenever you can – whether that’s someone serving you in a shop or restaurant or even a call centre or anywhere else you interact with other people.
Of course, with the increasing amount of automation it could be that you’ve been “served” by a machine. But that doesn’t mean you can’t thank the machine – maybe not out loud (although people winning jackpots from fruit machines do that) but you can always say “thank you” in your head.
If you’d like a fun experiment, try to remember to say thank you to all the traffic lights that turn green for you. Whether they’re green when you reach them or turn green soon after.
Then set your intention that you’ll encounter more green lights on your journey and express your gratitude. Napoleon Hill did the same thing with parking spaces and Tolly Burkan has done something similar with slot machines. Chances are that the more gratitude you give, the more you’ll encounter things to be grateful for in your life.
The more you’re grateful for, the more the law of attraction will attract even more things to be grateful for.
Keepiing a gratitude journal is also something that’s well worth doing.
It could be a notebook that you use or a purpose-bought gratitude journal (lots of those on Amazon) but get into the habit of writing down some things every day that you’re grateful for.
Pick a time of day – lots of people find last thing at night is a good time to do this so that they can think back over all the good things that have happened in the day and jot down at least three of them.
Sometimes – especially at first or if the day seems to have conspired against you – it can seem difficult to come up with things that you’re grateful for. Remember the list I showed you earlier and add in some of the things from that plus the fresh air you’ve breathed (unless you’re somewhere that you have to wear a mask, in which case be grateful for the protection the mask gives you), the roof over your head, your internet service provider (I sometimes forget how grateful I should be for my fast broadband connection here in the UK rather than some people I know in Australia or the backwaters of the US), your friends (and keeping in touch with them instantly) and much more.
Personally I don’t like the formality of writing a journal so I just run through the things I’m grateful for in my head instead. Some people would argue that isn’t as powerful as writing it down but I’d counter that with the fact that by doing it this way I’m making sure I’m being grateful every day rather than the once in a blue moon that I used to write up a journal.
Whether you write or think or say the things you’re grateful for, one extra advantage of making this a last-thing-at-night gratitude routine is that you’re planting gratefulness into your mind for the hours you’re going to be asleep. And that helps the law of attraction attract even more things for you to be grateful for in the coming days and weeks and longer.
Using the law of attraction to attract abundance and prosperity
Stop for a minute and take a look around you.
Abundance is everywhere – ultimately, the universe almost has no limits (and certainly doesn’t have any limits we’re currently capable of physically reaching) but even our relatively small planet has abundance everywhere. The oceans hold around 321 million cubic miles of water and that’s excluding the almost 6 million cubic miles of water that are frozenor the 8 million cubic miles of fresh and ground water.
That’s a lot by any standards – I don’t know about you but I can’t easily imagine just how much water would be in a cubic mile. So I looked it up – apparently if you put a wall around Manhatten Island (some would argue that might be a good thing) and started filling your new swimming pool with water, only buildings over 23 stories would be above the water line. And that’s just one cubic mile.
So there’s abundance everywhere you look.
Which kind-of means that we’re already attracting abundance into our lives just by being on this planet.
It also means that there’s more than enough to go around of near enough anything you care to think about.
Ultimately, it’s just a part of your mindset.
Turning your mind round from scarcity – maybe thoughts that have been with you since childhood – can be a task that your mind doesn’t want to complete but it’s worth pursuing.
As with most things to do with the law of attraction, it’s worth starting small. And, yes, I know we’re talking about abundance here but we alse need to bridge the current gap between your thinking (probably that things are limited and often in short supply) and where you need to be.
Almost nothing is really limited. Sure, shops and companies will put artificial limits on things but they’re just that – artificial. The only reason there isn’t more of them is that someone has taken a conscious decision to put a limit on them. Probably to push through more sales in a shorter space of time. But this time next year (or earlier) there will likely be a similar promotion and suddenly the limit wil be lifted again.
Turning your mind to abundance and prosperity is something you can do. And it’s something the law of attraction can help you with.
It’s often fun to make a game of this. Because that way your conscious mind steps out of the way and doesn’t put as many (well meaning) obstacles in your path. Games aren’t usually serious – we’ve played them since we were children and they take us to a different place in our mind.
So make attracting abundance and prosperity a game.
Pick something trivial that you can easily get more of.
It could be water from the tap or finding dropped coins on the pavement – fun to play with a child as they’re often much more receptive to the idea of free money waiting for them on the sidewalk.
It doesn’t much matter what you choose initially to prove to your subconscious that you can attract more of something.
Set yourself a deadline – I know we don’t always do that but I’ve found that deadlines help with lots of things including attracting more of something into our life.
Then let your subconscious find whatever it is you set out to attract. Forgive the analogy but it’s a bit like a heat seeking missile when it does that.
Play this game a few times and gradually step up the size of whatever it is you want to attract each time you play.
Once you’ve proven to yourself a few times that you really can attract near enough anything you want – and often in seemingly record time – then it’s time to take the attraction game more seriously.
But keep it as a game because a sense of fun is nice to have. And if you’re normally wandering around with your own personal thunderstorm over your head, make one of the first things you set out to attract a lighter, more upbeat mood. Because your mood and demeanour are things you’re attracting, even if you don’t consciously realise you’re doing that.
Then pick something that would start to prove to your subconscious that you’re attracting more abundance and prosperity into your life.
It can be something small or something slightly bigger. Your choice – go with whatever your first instinct is. So if something popped into your mind when I asked you to pick something, go with whatever that was.
If your mind is being stubborn (and it can be stubborn sometimes) and isn’t giving you any ideas then pick one of these ideas – again, choose the one that almost leaps up out of the screen at you.
- Unexpected money – if you don’t define it, that could be as little as a penny on the street so maybe qualify that with “at least ….” and then a figure. And make sure that you don’t treat those emails from Nigerian princes as proof that you’ve got more cash coming your direction.
- A raise at work – this is a variant on unexpected money but it can work better for some people to attract more abundance via a pay check than just unexpected cash.
- A new car – abundance comes in all shapes and forms. There’s nothing to say that it can’t take the form of your next vehicle. As with everything to do with the law of abundance, get as specific as you can. The closer you can get to being in the driver’s seat (easy with a test drive) the more real you can make your visualisation and the quicker it will appear in your life.
- A holiday – decide where, how long for and who’s likely to be with you when you take the well earned vacation. Smell the fresh air and the cooking that’s being done for you. Taste the food you’ll be eating. See the sights you’ll be seeing and hear the sounds that will be accompanying them. Make the visualisation as real as you possibly can and remember that taking holidays is a sign of you using your new-found abundance and prosperity.
- Better health – there’s nothing to say that abundance and prosperity are purely experienced in monetary terms. We probably all know people who’ve got through seemingly insurmountable odds and come out of hospital stronger than they went in. Your health is as much a part of your mindset as anything else – if you think that you’re always falling or getting ill or whatever, that’s what you’re (unintentionally) attracting. Sure, modern medicine helps, but you can also attract more health, maybe by using programs like The Journey to get you back to perfect health.
Attracting abundance and prosperity is part of an ongoing process.
Since you’re human, you don’t really have an “off” button for wealth – it’s easy to get used to new, higher, levels of prosperity even if you’ve always told yourself that a certain level of wealth would be enough. That’s just how it goes – partly because by that stage you’ve been setting your mind on attracting prosperity so long that it’s just part of your natural thought process to attract even more. But you’ve got to admit that’s a nice problem to have.

Does procrastination affect the law of attraction?
Procrastination is something that seems to affect most of us some of the time but for some of us it seems to be more a way of life.
Personally, I can procrastinate with the best. But if I really want to do something, I start it before my tendency to put things off gets a chance to come into play. Which can give the impression that I’m efficient but actually it’s more likely that if I don’t do it now, it won’t happen at all.
Now, there are reasons to procrastinate.
If something really isn’t that important then putting off the decision or clearing the decision once and for all can be a good thing. Mark Zuckerberg does that with the colour of his t-shirts. It’s not a make-or-break decision so he’s chosen to always wear blue t-shirts rather than procrastinate over the decision every single day.
Chances are that you could do the same in a lot of areas of your life. Make all those seemingly unimportant decisions that clutter your mind once and then stick with them.
You’re probably already doing that for a lot of things even if you don’t consciously think about it – what you eat for breakfast, the style of coffee you drink, the TV shows you watch or stream, the teams you follow.
If there are decisions you procrastinate over every day, those are ripe for being sorted out once and for all. Make a decision and stick with it until a better alternative presents itself. You could even decide to attract a better alternative if you want – just set the intention and let the universe take care of finding it for you. But make part of the intention you set that the solution has to make itself obvious to you.
That’s something that’s missed in a lot of talk about the law of attraction – making the solutions incredibly obvious is something that the universe is perfectly capable of doing but unless it’s asked to do that it may think that you enjoy solving the puzzles it hides them in.
But I’m digressing.
Procrastination is the art of putting things off. Nothing more, nothing less.
The first thing is to recognise that you’re doing it – that’s what I did with my solution of doing things before I get a chance to procrastinate.
Start by being grateful for the time that procrastination has saved you – there are countless things you haven’t got round to because you’ve been procrastinating on them. Some of them would have involved you going down a rabbit hole in your life and would have just sucked enthusiasm for you.
Next, decide which things you’re no longer going to allow yourself to procrastinate on.
That could be choosing meals at restaurants, it could be which show to watch. You know that 9 times out of 10 you’ll resort to one of your regular choices so cut out the middleman that procrastinating is and just pick one of your regular choices. Or decide to try something new and give yourself a set amount of time to decide – set the clock ticking on the decision and, like those quiz shows, if you haven’t made a decision when the clock stops, make one!
Setting a time limit is actually quite good practice for most things – the exams you took at school all had a time limit, so did your driving test and most everything else that’s been important and regulated.
But you can spin this around.
Now – because the universe doesn’t handle negatives – you can’t simply say that you want to procrastinate less. That will be interpeted as wanting to procrastinate even more which isn’t good news.
Instead, set the intention that you want to make small decisions instantly and medium size decisions fast and only those almost once-in-a-lifetime decisions should have the luxury of procrastination. Things like your life partner, where you’re going to live, that kind of thing.
Set that intention, maybe write some affirmations around it and generally let the universe know that’s what you want to happen.
Yes, you can attract less procrastination (so long as it’s not worded that way!) and use the law of attraction to help you get more things done, quicker and more efficiently than you ever dreamed possible.
And since we’re conditioned a bit like Pavlov’s dogs, give yourself a small reward when you make the next few decisions more quickly, without dithering forever about them.
One other thing to remember is that whatever you do, it’s highly unlikely it wil ever be perfect. Sometimes our quest for perfection is the excuse behind our procrastination – we know deep down that whatever we do, it won’t be perfect, so we use that as an excuse to put off starting it in the first place.
Most of the time, that’s not a particularly good reason to put off doing something. If it was, most of the things we take for granted would never have been invented because the idea wasn’t perfect.
That goes for computers (remember DOS or Windows 3.1?), phones (plugged into the wall, then luggable and now super-compact), cars (Model-T versus a Tesla) or near enough anything else. And if we have this same conversation in 10 or 20 years time, those modern items will seem so out of date and imperfect that we’ll wonder why we ever thought they were cool and cutting edge,
But none of that progress would have happened if people had procrastinated and waited until everything was “perfect”.
Instead, work on attracting a result or solution that is good enough. You can always go for version two of almost any decision you’ve previously procrastinated on.
What is a Law of Attraction Practitioner?
There’s no formal process to becoming a law of attraction pracitioner. Like a lot of things, it’s not exactly regulated except maybe by reputation.
And even that can be tailored by making your website look plausible, putting up some testimonials and (probably) getting some kind of law of attraction certification whether that’s an online course or one that the practitioner attends in person.
After that, a law of attraction practitioner is probably closest to being a life coach – following the law of attraction is a way of leading your life and it’s often best to have someone or something to guide you through the process. There are certain “tricks of the trade” (like phrasing things in a positive manner, expressing gratitude, etc.) that are easier to do when you’ve got a guide rather than trying to train yourself. It depends very much on how you learn.
But if you’re one of those people who, like me, need to experience things first hand before they properly sink in then tracking down a law of attraction practitioner could be something that’s well worth doing.
The first place to start – as with almost everything nowadays – is via a web search.
Use law of attraction (or sometimes the abbreviation LOA) plus a few variants of the term practitioner – coach, coaching, lifestyle consultant, that kind of thing – plus your town or city.
What that search turns up will depend on where you are in the world and what mood Google is in. Sometimes computers don’t always “get” what we’re searching for and can deliver results that are baffling, In that respect, they’ve got a lot in common with the law of attraction in that sometimes things seem to go on the most indirect route possible.
But they usually do make sense in the end.
Of course, if you’re truly doing your best to use the law of attraction in your day to day life (and you might as well do that because it’s going to attract things intentionally or unintentionally) then it could be worth setting the intention that you’ll find a law of attraction practitioner local to you, affordable for you, who’s available and whose style you get on with.
That’s actually an intention well worth setting – if you’re serious about finding a law of attraction practitioner to help you, I’d suggest doing it a couple of days before you carry out the online search. For starters, you may well attract the perfect person anyway!
But what should you look for in a law of attraction practitioner?
- They should appear successful – that can mean lots of different things and not necessarily material wealth as not everyone likes to manifest that. Do a bit of background research on them as well. The web can help but obviously (even though it wouldn’t be good karma) not every review is necessarily real. Much like Amazon, too high a rating can be a sign that not all is as it should be.
- They shouldn’t be too cheap – that’s something that afflicts life coaches as well as law of attraction practitioners. The process is likely to affect your life (for the better) but if the person you’re meeting with is charging little more than a supervisor at the local pizza shop would get paid, they’re not taking the right approach with their own law of attraction. I know some people who do pro-bono work in this field but they use their paying clients to enable themselves to do that.
- Can they schedule an introductory meeting? You need to find out whether you’re both in alignment and whether your chosen practitioner is likely to be leading you in your desired direction. Always assuming you have a desired direction – if not, are they able to help you find where you want to go in your life and what you want to attract into it. If the first meeting leaves you feeling that you’ve ended up with more questions than answers, you need to decide whether or not that’s correct for you – attract an obvious answer to that conundrum if that’s the case.
- Do they listen to what you say? Or are they like some of those call centre people who answer the question they’d rather you asked rather than the one you actually did ask? In some respects, a law of attraction practitioner is a bit like a shrink – their main role is to listen and help you come to your own answers. They can’t be there for you full time and even if they could, they can’t think for you or attract things for you. Their main job is probably best described as an enabler or channel.
- Keep an open mind. At times, the law of attraction is a bit like a psychic cold reading or a daily horoscope. If things are vague enough but with a grain of truth, our minds are very good at filling in the gaps and telling us that everything is OK. Keep notes and (after a reasonable trial period) check what your friends are saying about you and check what you’re actually attracting into your life. If nothing’s changed then it could be time for a reality check. But obviously if you go into the relationship with your law of attraction practitioner with the thought that they won’t be any good, that’s likely to be what you attract. So, again, in the first meeting (and subequent ones) make sure that one of the things you set out to attract is success from the meetings.
- Consider a Meetup group – there are groups all over the world and whilst it’s not necessarily fashionable to meet people face to face in today’s electronically dominated world, they are often a great place to find like minded people. If there isn’t a specific law of attraction group close enough to you, widen your search to related groups and (of course) set the intention that you’ll find your ideal practitioner at the group.
As with any relationship, the one you form with a law of attraction practitioner can be very worthwhile and can lead you further ahead in whatever you’re looking to achieve and manifest in your life.
Law of Attraction for Beginners
You could probably argue that this section should have been earlier on this page but then again everyone is arriving here at a different point in their lives and you could also argue that we’re all beginners in at least some section of the law of attraction. Despite what some people would like to claim, no-one ever knows everything.
In fact. it’s often worth going back to the basics on the law of attraction. Humans are good at complicating things and so often those complications get in the way of doing what we intended to do in the first place.
That applies to the law of attraction just as much as it does to the latest electronic gadget that caught your eye but stubbornly refuses to do your bidding now you’ve taken it out of the box.
So go back to the basics:
- Decide what you want to attract into your life
- Put your focus onto attracting it
Yup.
That’s the place you should always be starting from whenever you want to attract something new into your life.
Then tweak the various parts of what you’re doing so that you’re helping the law of attraction to manifest what you truly want in your life.
So let’s go back to that innocent looking statement about deciding what you want to attract into your life with the law of attraction.
Like most simple statements, it’s usually a lot more complicated than it first seems.
- What do you actually want to attract?
- Do you have that burning desire that Napoleon Hill said you’d need?
- If your answer is yes, great.
- If your answer is no or maybe, then you need to work out why and maybe go back to the first step of deciding what you want to attract.
- What are you doing to help the law of attraction help you? It’s all well and good getting your vibration sorted but if you’re just being laid back and doing nothing to help manifest what you want in your life, at best it will take longer to appear and at worst it will stubbornly refuse to manifest. The motto God helps those who help themselves applies just as much to the law of attraction as it does elsewhere in life.
- The clearer your vision, the quicker it is likely to manifest itself.
- And the more things you do to nudge it into manifesting, the more you’re helping the universe assist you. That could be as simple as repeating affirmations, regularly checking your vision board or even just changing the sceensavers on your computer and phone.
One technique that’s rarely mentioned alongside the law of attraction (but that works nicely) is keeping track.
If it’s work that you’re keeping track of then that’s often done by logging what you spent most of your time on in 30 minute segments throughout the day – that’s done at the time, not ages afterwards.
But with the law of attraction that kind of detail is probably overkill. Instead, I’d suggest a daily log – maybe in the evening when you write up your gratitude journal – noting down what (if anything) you’ve done to help manifest whatever it is you want to attract.
If there are too many days where you’ve done nothing, go back through the thought process and decide whether or not you’re aiming to attract something you actually want or whether it’s just a fantasy.
Sometimes the act of getting more real with your various uses of the law of attraction makes a bigger difference than you’d ever imagine.
And that applies whether you’re a beginner or an intermediate law of attraction user or someone who’d consider themselves an expert.
